Learn and Sing 1 Bollywood Classic Hindi Song per day for 300 days, that is what I did. 300 PLUS songs recorded.
Thanks to COVID to be able to do this from home in Nashville TN.
Born & raised in India, I mostly listened to western rock, blues, punk, reggae & jazz.
I challenged myself to learn & sing old Hindi songs which, as a child, I used to hear at home on classic radio or TV.
Recorded live, one take, no edits, with backing track, or with an acoustic guitar.

A really good song that I identify myself with very much. So this one is definitely close to my heart.
It is day 307 of 300, and today's song is one of my favorites. Song titled Deewano Se Yeh Mat Poochosung by Mukesh, from the 1967movieUpkar, directed by Manoj Kumar. Music composed by Kalyanji Anandji, and lyrics written by Qamar Jalalabadi.
It is day 306 of 300, and today's song is a rather difficult song for me. Took me lots of attempts and time to get to a point of singing it somewhat decently. Most certainly I am not blessed with a melodious beautiful voice. So I sing with what I have. I guess, I play the cards I was dealt.
This is song #306 in the 300 #bollywood #classics #series. The song is Raina Beeti Jayesung by Lata Mangeshkar from the 1972movieAmar Prem directed and produced by Shakti Samanta. Music composed by R.D. Burman, and lyrics written by Anand Bakshi.
It is day 305 of 300, and today's song is yet another sad song, Jaoon Kahan Bata Ae Dilsung by Mukesh from the 1959movieChhoti Bahen directed and produced by L.V. Prasad. Music composed by Shankar Jaikishan, and lyrics written by Hasrat Jaipuri.
Good movie, it only s few days ago while I was learning this song.
A good way I release the sadness I feel from life's hard times is by singing these #old #classic #bollywood #sad #songs. It surely is therapeutic.
It is day 304 of 300, and today's song is Hum Chhod Chale Hain Mehfil Kosung by Mukesh from the 1964movieJi Chahta Hai directed by Bhibut Mitra. Music composed by Kalyanji Anandji, and lyrics written by Hasrat Jaipuri.
I am well past the 300 songs that I told myself that I will learn, sing, record and post, but there are few more songs that I like and know and would like to continue to learn them and post.
So here it is, another of my favorite songs by Mukesh:
It is day 302 of 300, and today's song is Aye Khuda Har Faisla Tera Mujhe Manzoor Haisung by Kishore Kumar from the 1980 movie Abdullah directed by Sanjay Khan. Music composed by R.D. Burman, and lyrics written by Anand Bakshi.
I don't think I have watched this movie. Perhaps something I will do soon.
It is day 301 of 300, and today's song is Mera Jeevan Kuchh Kaam Na Aayasung by Kishore Kumar from the 1976movieMera Jiwan directed by Bindoo Shukla. Music composed by Sapan Jagmohan, and lyrics written by M.G. Hashmat.
I just realized I did not have a single Sapan Jagmohan song in my list of 300 songs I posted so far. So the 301st song, a bonus song is his composition. Great composition.
I don't think this is a much known song. Even I did not know it until I heard it a couple months ago for the first time. Liked it so much that this song used to play at home at least once a day. Then I watched the movie too. Definitely an off beat non mainstream movie.
Song number 301, here it is, my rendition of the song:
Chords: ?
Lyrics:
mera jivan kuchh kaam na aaya
jaise sukhe ped ki chhaya
o apno ke hote huye man me basi tanhai
ho aansu bana ke khushi aankho me maine barsayi
ho khushiyo ko rote rote duniya me ab to mera ji ghabraya
o baras gaye re sawan dariya bhi josh me aaye
ho phul bhi khilne lage kaliyo ke man muskaye
ho suni rahi ek dali uspe to ab tak koi phul na aaya
o jine ko ji na chahe maangu to maut na aaye
ho saanso ke chalne ko to jivan kaha nahi jaye
ho dard basa ke dil me mera nasib mujhko kaha pe laya
It is day 300 of 300, and today's song is Aari Aaja Nindiyasung by Kishore Kumar & Lata Mangeshkar from the 1974movieKunwara Baap directed by Mehmood. Music composed by Rajesh Roshan, and lyrics written by Majrooh Sultanpuri.
That is song # 300, and that completes the series I started back in Jan 2021. 300 #bollywood #classics #old #songs.
I do have couple more bonus songs that I recorded and will post in the course of next few days.
I am glad I kept my word to me, and actually complete the series irrespective of if anyone listened to it or not.
I would have thought this day would be a happy day, but sadly it is a day of mourning for me. Life has brought me to a strange point and I know not where it will take me next.
But thank you those few who actually listened and supported.
It is day 299 and today's song is Tumsa Nahin Dekhasung by Mohammed Rafi from the 1957movieTumsa Nahin Dekha directed and written by Nasir Hussain. Music composed by O.P. Nayyar, and lyrics written by Majrooh Sultanpuri.

It is day 296, and today's song is Yeh Dil Na Hota Becharasung by Kishore Kumar from the 1967movieJewel Thief directed by Vijay Anand and produced by Dev Anand. Music composed by S.D. Burman, and lyrics written by Majrooh Sultanpuri.
This is probably last song I am posting written by the greats and my all times favorites, S.D. Burman and Majrooh Sutanpuri.
I am at song# 296, 4 more to go, and then done. I know I spent quite a good amount of my time learning recording and posting these songs. For what?
Again, I know I do not have a great voice, nor am I trained in singing.
I know some of my postings sound not bad, some are better, most are average with flaws and not perfect. But I am happy I did. At least now I can die in peace. My singing is out there for generations to listen to.
I do not believe in copying the original music note to note when singing or playing music. Perhaps it is my inability to copy note to note, or lack of patience to strive to copy. I mostly learned the song, focus on the lyrics and attempted to emote the feeling of the lyrics to the best of my mediocre abilities.
Thank you to the handful of people who have listened to my post regularly or on and off.
In the end, I am almost close to 300 songs that I decided to learn and post. So, I am happy I kept my word to myself and did what I strived to do irrespective of anything.
I am also happy that I found Deepankar Choudhury's English translation of this song. He is the best translator of Bollywood songs. Many posts I have put link to his translation work. He does not just literally translates, but translates into English poetry while keeping the meaning and essence of the song. Please visit his blog (http://anondogaan.blogspot.com/). He has translated many Hindi (Bengali too, I think) songs and they are excellent translations.
It is day 291 and today's song is Agar Tum Na Hotesung by Kishore Kumar from the 1983movieAgar Tum Na Hote directed by Lekh Tandon. Music composed by R.D. Burman, and lyrics written by Gulshan Bawra.
Raag: Asavari
Taal: Kaherava
Kishore Kumar was awarded the Filmfare award for best Male singer for this song that year.
