Day 238: Today's song is Do Naina Matware by K.L. Saigal - Meri Bahen (1944)

It is day 238, and today's song is Do Naina Matware sung by K.L. Saigal from the 1944 movie Meri Bahen directed by Hemchander Chunder. Music composed by Pankaj Mullick, and lyrics written by Pandit Bushan.

K.L. Saigal was a genius, way ahead of his time. His soulful singing, I think, is the best of the best in the entire Bollywood. I think most singers that followed the time and went on to become legends have been in some way or the other influenced by K.L. Saigal's singing.

Great movie! Great song!
Here it is, my rendition of the song:

Lyrics:
do nainaa matavaare tihaare
ham par zulm kare ham par zulm kare
do nainaa matavaare tihaare
ham par zulm kare ham par zulm kare

naino me rahe to, sudh budh khoye
naino me rahe to, sudh budh khoye
chhipe to chhipe to chain hare
do nainaa
do nainaa matavaare tihaare
ham par zulm kare ham par zulm kare

tan tan ke chalae tir, nas nas me, nas nas me uthae pir
tan tan ke chalae tir, nas nas me uthae pir
madabhare rasile nithur bade
na dare na dhire dhare
do nainaa matavaare tihaare
ham par zulm kare ham par zulm kare

jab hoti ho
jab hoti ho tum us paar
man ki bina ki baj uthate hai zor zor se taar
man ki
man ki bina ki baj uthate hai zor zor se taar
paas ae to aise bhul gae
pal chhin me, pal chhin me saba kuchh bhul gae
paas ae to aise bhul gae
pal chhin me saba kuchh bhul gae
khushiyo ke sote ubal pade, har ang me rang bhare
do nainaa matavaare tihaare
ham par zulm karem ham par zulm kare

21. It is day 21, and today's song is the oldest bollywood song I know of, Jab Dil Hi Toot Gaya by K.L. Saigal

It is said that it takes a minimum of 21 days to form a new habit. Today is day 21 of my one Bollywood classic song per day for 300 days, and today's song is the oldest Bollywood song that I know of, Jab Dil Hi Toot Gaya sung by K.L. Saigal. A very old song! From before most of us was born, in fact it from before India got it's independence from the British empire rule. The song is from the 1946 movie Shahjehan, directed by A.R. Kardar. This song's music is composed by Naushad, and lyrics written by Majrooh Sultanpuri.

So here is my rendition of this song:
Chords: Post link to a good site that has chords for this song.
Lyrics:
Jab Dil Hi Toot Gaya
Jab Dil Hi Toot Gaya
Hum Ji Ke Kya Karege
Hum Ji Ke Kya Karege
Jab Dil Hi Toot Gaya
Jab Dil Hi Toot Gaya

Ulafat Ka Diyaa Hamane
Is Dil Mein Jalaya Tha
Ulafat Ka Diyaa Hamane
Is Dil Mein Jalaya Tha
Ummid Ke Phoolo Se
Is Ghar Ko Sajaayaa Tha
Ummid Ke Phoolo Se
Is Ghar Ko Sajaayaa Tha
Ik Bhedi Loot Gayaa
Ik Bhedi Loot Gayaa
Hum Ji Ke Kya Karege
Hum Ji Ke Kya Karege
Jab Dil Hi Toot Gaya

Maalum Na Tha Itani,
Mushkil Hai Meri Raahe
Mushkil Hai Meri Raahe
Maalum Na Tha Itani,
Mushkil Hai Meri Raahe
Mushkil Hai Meri Raahe
Aramaa Ke Bahe Aansoo
Hasarat Ki Bhari Aahe
Aramaa Ke Bahe Aansoo
Hasarat Ki Bhari Aahe
Har Sathi Chhut Gaya
Har Sathi Chhut Gaya
Hum Ji Ke Kya Karege
Hum Ji Ke Kya Karege
Jab Dil Hi Toot Gaya.
