Learn and Sing 1 Bollywood Classic Hindi Song per day for 300 days, that is what I did. 300 PLUS songs recorded.
Thanks to COVID to be able to do this from home in Nashville TN.
Born & raised in India, I mostly listened to western rock, blues, punk, reggae & jazz.
I challenged myself to learn & sing old Hindi songs which, as a child, I used to hear at home on classic radio or TV.
Recorded live, one take, no edits, with backing track, or with an acoustic guitar.
It is day 23, and today's song is Zindagi Dene Wale Sun by Talat Mahmood. The song is from the 1953 movie Dil-E-Nadan, directed by A.R. Kardar. The music director was Ghulam Mohammed, with lyrics written by Shakeel Badayuni.
This is a smooth song sung by one of the smoothest singers in Bollywood.
It is only day 23, and I am only beginning to learn. Long way to go.

Lyrics:
Ae mere dil kahin aur chal
Gam ki duniya se dil bhar gaya
Dhundh le ab koi ghar naya
Chal jahaan gam ke maare na ho, Jhuthhi asha ke taare na ho
It is day 51, and today's song is Jayen To Jayen Kahan sung by Talat Mahmood from the 1954 Bollywood movie Taxi Driver, directed by Chetan Anand. Lyrics written by Sahir Ludhianvi, and music composed by S.D. Burman.
This is my third back to back posting of a S.D. Burman song. He is my new found favorite Bollywood music composer of all times.
This song I know I used to hear a lot on the radio, and a neighbor singing often, growing up in India.

It is day 8 of my one song per day for 300 days. Today I picked a very old song from a 1955 movie Bara-Dari, not a very popular movie I guess, but I will say that this song I have heard many many times on the radio as a kid. Back then itself this song was an oldie. This movie is directed by K. Amarnath. Music direction by Naushad, and lyrics penned by Khumar Barabankwi. Not sure what raga this melody is based on, but if you know, please comment. This song Tasveer Banata Hoon is sung by the smooth mellow singer Talat Mahmood.

Lyrics:
shahar ki raat aur main nashad-o-nakara phiru
jagmagaati jaagati, sadako pe aavaara phiru
ai gham-e-dil kya karu, ai vahashat-e-dil kya karu
kya karu, kya karu
ai gham-e-dil kya karu, ai vahashat-e-dil kya karu
kya karu, kya karu, ai gham-e-dil kya karu
ye rupahali chhanv ye aakash par taaro ka jaal
ye rupahali chhanv ye aakash par taaro ka jaal
jaise sufi ka tasavvur, jaise aashiq ka khayaal
aah lekin kaun samajhe, kaun jaane dil ka haal
ai gham-e-dil kya karu, ai vahashat-e-dil kya karu
kya karu, kya karu, ai gham-e-dil kya karu
raaste me ruk ke dam lu, ye meri aadat nahi
raaste me ruk ke dam lu, ye meri aadat nahi
laut kar vaapas chala jaau meri fitarat nahi
aur koi hamnava mil jaaye ye qismat nahi
ai gham-e-dil kya karu, ai vahashat-e-dil kya karu
It is day 165, and today's song is Jalte Hai Jiske Liyesung by Talat Mahmood from the 1959movieSujata, directed and produced by Bimal Roy. Music composed by S.D. Burman, and lyrics written by Majrooh Sultanpuri.
When I was new on the karaoke app smule.com this was one of the first songs suggested by the app and I started singing it from memory. I was recording using my phone's headset. Good song! I liked it then, I like it now.
It is day 75 and today's song is Raat Ne Kya Kya Khwab Dikhaye sung by Talat Mahmood from the 1957 movie Ek Gaon Ki Kahani, directed by Dulal Guha. Music composed by Salil Chaudhury and lyrics written by Shailendra.
This is a very old movie, and I don't recall watching this movie. Reading the synopsis on IMDB.com it does not seem like a great movie, but nevertheless I would like to watch and see for myself.
This song I know from listening to radio, growing up, and I think we also had a tape of Talat Mahmood hits at home in my father's collection.
