It is day 303 of 300, and today's song is a special song, Ghunghat Ke Pat Khol sung by Geeta Dutt from the 1950 movie Jogan directed by Kidar Nath Sharma. Music composed by Bulo C Rani, and lyrics written by non other than the bhakti movement saint Meera Bai.

I am so happy to be posting this song as a potential last song in this blog series, since I have completed my goal of singing and posting 300 songs. I am happy for multiple reasons:

1. I did 3 songs more than my target 300,
2. My last song is by my most favorite singer of all times Geeta Dutt.
3. This song is actually written by saint Meera Bai. so I feel blessed by her.
4. I feel blessed by the feminine powers of Geeta Di, Meera Bai, Maa Sarasvati and Maa Kali.

I remember watching this movie back in 2019 for the first time and I really loved it.

It took me more than 450 days to achieve the target and complete since I started it back at the end of Jan 2021. Will I post more songs in this series, I do not know.

 A Spanish music influenced 1957 classic Geeta Dutt song, Jata Kahan Hai Diwane is today's pick. 50s and 60s Bollywood music was considerably influenced by Latin American, Spanish and Italian music. This cabaret'ique song Jata Kahan Hai Diwane is from C.I.D. a 1956 Indian crime thriller film directed by Raj Khosla and produced by Guru Dutt, and no other singer could express the mood and melody of this song better than the legendary pioneer Geeta Dutt. It is day 82, and it is time to take a break from singing my renditions of Bollywood classic old hindi film songs, a day a song. Sometimes the renditions are good, many other times they are average, and sometimes not so good. But this is a great learning exercise for me. I am beginning to see my limitations as a musician and a singer. Some times the mood of the song and my emotions are aligned, and sometimes not. But it is a learning exercise and I am glad I chose to do this 1 song a day for 300 days. I am also glad I am actually doing it and have gotten to 82 songs so far. I love Geeta Di. even though she is way way before my time, she has been instrumental in my learning Bollywood songs. And S.D. Burman dadoo, is THE best music composer of all time in Bollywood, IMHO.

I do not know anything about this movie. I don't think I saw it. Not sure even if I can find a copy to watch.

1947 was the year India got it's independence from the British rule. So this movie is old old old. 75 years old. But it seems to be a mostly unanimous agreement with Indian people that old Hindi movie songs were the best ever, and nothing like that was and is ever produced since.
