Even I did not have this song on my list for the 300 Bollywood classics that I decided to learn, sing and post on my YouTube channel Puraane Gaane back in January 2021. But, I was in India for few weeks in January-February this year and one day while I was killing the afternoon time browsing channels since my parents were taking a siesta, I came across this movie, Mahaan with Amitabh Bachchan in triple role. So, just for the heck of it, I started watching it, and there was this song. I remember this song as a boy from my father's music collection. I liked it back then, I like it now too.

Great song! Even though picturized as a romantic song, to me this song is a bhajan, singing to the one and only, omnipresent, omniscient, omnipotent and omnibenevolent source, undivided and untouched by religion or politics.

 It is day 4, and today I chose to sing one of my favorite old time song from 1949. When this song was released, it was just two years since India had achieved independence from the rule of the British empire. This song is definitely decades before I or most of you were born. This song used to popularly played on radio when I was a boy, so I do have some memories of this song.

Suhani Raat Dhal Chuki is a hit song from the movie Dulari, directed by A. R. Kardar. Music direction was done by Naushad, lyrics written by Shakeel Badayuni and sung by the golden voice great Mohammed Rafi. So this song had three greats put their talents together. No wonder it is such an evergreen song which sounds as fresh and great as it did back in the day.
