Day 4: Suhani Raat Dhal Chuki, a hit song sung by Mohammed Rafi - Dulari (1949)

It is day 4, and today I chose to sing one of my favorite old time song from 1949. When this song was released, it was just two years since India had achieved independence from the rule of the British empire. This song is definitely decades before I or most of you were born. This song used to popularly played on radio when I was a boy, so I do have some memories of this song.

Suhani Raat Dhal Chuki is a hit song from the movie Dulari, directed by A. R. Kardar. Music direction was done by Naushad, lyrics written by Shakeel Badayuni and sung by the golden voice great Mohammed Rafi. So this song had three greats put their talents together. No wonder it is such an evergreen song which sounds as fresh and great as it did back in the day.

Here is a latest rendition of the song, singing solo with an acoustic guitar (recorded on 11/11/2022):

So here is my rendition of this song with backing tracks (recorded on 01/31/2021):

Lyrics:
Suhani Raat Dhal Chuki, Na Jaane Tum Kab Aavoge
Jahan Ki Rut Badal Chuki, Na Jaane Tum Kab Aavoge

Nazare Apni Mastiyan, Luta Lutake Sogaye
Sitaare Apni Roshani, Dikha Dikhake Sogaye
Har Ek Shamma Jal Chuki, Na Jaane Tum Kab Aavoge

Tadap Rahen Hein Ham Yahan, Tumhare Intazaar Mein
Khisan Ka Rang, Aa-chala Hai, Mausam-e-bahaar Mein, (2)
Hawa Bhi Rukh Badal Chuki, Na Jaane Tum Kab Aavoge

Suhani Raat Dhal Chuki, Na Jaane Tum Kab Aavoge
Jahan Ki Rut Badal Chuki, Na Jaane Tum Kab Aavoge

End of day 4, 296 more to go.

Thank you for listening
Peace
