Day 7: Today's song is Chandan Sa Badan by Mukesh - Saraswatichandra (1968)

Day 7, today I go back to the black and white era. 1968 movie Saraswatichandra, directed by Govind Saraiya. Music direction by Kalyanji-Anandji, and lyrics by Indeevar, this song Chanda Sa Badan sung by Mukesh and Lata in the movie is a memorable song which has gone on to become a timeless classic, a masterpiece set to the lilting melody of raga Yaman Kalyan.

I have always loved this song from the time I heard it in my childhood when the cassette tape of this song used to be played at home, or if and when radio or TV (chitrahaar) played this song. Beautiful song.

Here is a rendition with lyrical video (posted on Dec 20, 2024):

Here is my solo acoustic guitar version of this song (recorded on 10/14/2022):

Here is my rendition of this song using backing tracks (recorded on 02/03/2021):
Chandan saa badan chanchal chitwan
dheere se teraa ye muskaanaa
chandan saa badan chanchal chitwan
dheere se teraa ye muskaanaa
Mujhe dosh na dena jag waalon o
Mujhe dosh na dena jag waalon
Ho jaaye agar dil deewaanaa
Chandan saa badan chanchal chitwan

ye kaam kamaan bhanve teri
palkon ke kinaare kajraare
ye kaam kamaan bhanve teri
palkon ke kinaare kajraare
maathe par sindoori sooraj
hothon pe dahakte angaare
saayaa bhi jo teraa pad jaaye
saayaa bhi jo teraa pad jaaye
aabaad ho dil kaa veeraanaa
chandan saa badan chanchal chitwan

Tan bhi sundar man bhi sundar
tu sundartaa ki moorat hai
Kisi aur ko shaayad kam hogi
mujhe teri bahut zaroorat hai
Pehle bhi bahut dil tarsaa hai
Pehle bhi bahut dil tarsaa hai
tu aur na dil ko tarsaanaa
chandan saa badan chanchal chitwan
dheere se teraa ye muskaanaa
Mujhe dosh na dena jag waalon o
Mujhe dosh na dena jag waalon
Ho jaaye agar dil deewaanaa
Chandan saa badan chanchal chitwan

Thank you for listening
peace
