Day 284: Today's song is Mujhe Tumse Kuchh Bhi Na Chahiye by Mukesh - Kanhaiya (1959)

It is day 284 and today's song is Mujhe Tumse Kuchh Bhi Na Chahiye sung by Mukesh from the 1959 movie Kanhaiya directed by Om Prakash (the actor). Music composed by Shankar Jaikishan, and lyrics written by Shailendra.

Raag: Darbari Kanada
Taal: Rupak

The movie is a great story written by Om Prakash that shows that God does not necessarily abode in gold, silver or opulent temple, or wear suit, boot and live in style. Rather, God is found in simple and unexpected places. Great movie! I feel I want to watch it again. I am a Raj Kapoor fan anyways, even though he was before my time.

Here is a newer rendition with lyrical video (posted on May 16, 2025):

This one is a sad song. Here it is, my rendition of the song (posted on March 24, 2022):

Lyrics:
mujhe tumse kuch bhi na chahiye
mujhe mere haal pe chhod do
mujhe mere haal pe chhod do
mera dil agar koyi dil nahi
usey mere samane tod do
usey mere samane tod do
mujhe tumse kuch bhi na chahiye

mai ye bhool jaunga zindagi
kabhi muskarayi thi pyar me
mai ye bhool jaunga zindagi
kabhi muskarayi thi pyar me
mai ye bhool jaunga mera dil
kabhi khil utha tha bahar me
jinhe is jaha ne bhula diya
mera naam un me hi jod do
mera naam un me hi jod do
mujhe tumse kuch bhi na chahiye
mujhe mere haal pe chhod do
mujhe mere haal pe chhod do
mujhe tumse kuch bhi na chahiye

tumhe apna kahne ki chah me
kabhi ho sakey na kisi ke ham
tumhe apna kahne ki chah me
kabhi ho sakey na kisi ke ham
yahi dard mere jigar me hai
mujhe mar dalega bas ye gum
mai wo gul hu jo na khila kabhi
mujhe kyu na shaakh se tod do
mujhe kyu na shaakh se tod do
mujhe tumse kuch bhi na chahiye
mujhe mere haal pe chhod do
mujhe mere haal pe chhod do
mujhe tumse kuch bhi na chahiye

Thank you for listening!

Day 27: Today's song is Ek Akela Is Shaher Mein by Bhupinder Singh - Gharaonda (1977)

It is day 27, and it feels good to keep at it, and it has been helpful learning. Day 27, and 273 more days to go. One Bollywood classic song per day for 300 days. Let's hope it keeps up. Only time will tell.

Anyways, today's song is Ek Akela Is Shaher Mein sung by Bhupinder Singh from the 1977 movie Gharaonda. The movie was directed by Bhimsain. Music composed by Jaidev Kumar, and the awesome lyrics of Gulzar, the great. Don't I love him. Such a great awesome lyricist and a story teller.

Lyrics:
Ek akela is sheher mein
Raat mein aur dopahar mein
Aabodaana dhoondhta hai
Aashiyaana dhoondhta hai

Ek akela is sheher mein
Raat mein aur dopahar mein
Aabodaana dhoondhta hai
Aashiyaana dhoondhta hai
Ek akela is sheher mein

Din khaali khaali bartan hai
Din khaali khaali bartan hai
Aur raat hai jaise andhaa kuaan
In sooni andheri aankhon mein
Aansoo ki jagah aata hai dhuaan
Jeene ki wajah to koi nahin
Marne ka bahaana dhoondhta hai
Dhoondhta hai
Dhoondhta hai

Ek akela is sheher mein
Raat mein aur dopahar mein
Aabodaana dhoondhta hai
Aashiyaana dhoondhta hai
Ek akela is sheher mein

In umr se lambi sadkon ko
In umr se lambi sadkon ko
Manzil pe pahunchte dekha nahin
Bas daudti phirti rehti hain
Hum ne to theherte dekha nahin
Is ajnabee se sheher mein
Jaana pehchaana dhoondhta hai
Dhoondhta hai
Dhoondhta hai

Ek akela is sheher mein
Raat mein aur dopahar mein
Aabodaana dhoondhta hai
Aashiyaana dhoondhta hai
Ek akela is sheher mein

Thank you for listening

Day 294: Today's song is Sur Na Saje by Manna Dey - Basant Bahar (1956)

It is day 294, and today's song is Sur Na Saje sung by Manna Dey from the 1956 movie Basant Bahar directed by Raja Nawathe. Music composed by Shankar Jaikishan, and lyrics written by Shailendra. One of the top songwriters trio in the industry ever. The other super tops are S.D. Burman, Majrooh Sultanpuri, and the one and only Gulzar the great! IMHO.

Raag: Pilu
Taal: Kaherava

A difficult song. Pardon my flaws. Definitely one of the most, if not the most difficult song I ever learned to sing in the list of 300 #bollywood #classic songs I have been doing, and now almost at the end of it. 294 of 300, 6 more to go to reach the goal.

I have not watched this movie Basant Bahar ever. Reading a brief synopsis of it on Wiki sounds like it is a very good movie to watch. Based on music. Music, I feel, is the ultimate language of the universe. I most certainly will watch this movie sometime soon.

Here is a version with lyrical video (posted on May 02, 2025):

Again, Pardon my flaws. Here it is, my rendition of the song (posted on April 07, 2022):
Chords: ?
Lyrics:
sur na saje kya gau mai
sur na saje kya gau mai
sur ke bina, jivan suna
sur ke bina, jivan suna
sur na saje kya gau mai
sur na saje

jalte gaya jivan mera
jalte gaya jivan mera
is raat ka nahoga sawera
is raat ka nahoga sawera
sur na saje kya gau mai
sur na saje

dono jaha mujhase ruthe
dono jaha mujhase ruthe
tere bina ye geet bhi jhuthe
tere bina ye geet bhi jhuthe
sur na saje kya gau mai
sur na saje

sageet man ko pakh lagae
geeto se rimajhim ras barasae
sageet man ko pakh lagae
geeto se rimajhim ras barasae
svar ki sadhana
svar ki sadhana parameshvar ki
sur na saje kya gau mai
sur na saje
